What's the advantage of translating the subtitles like this, instead of just using the panel on the right? If you tick "Show original", it shows one panel with the original subtitle from the line you are currently on and underneath you can write whatever you want to substitute the original text with.

It's a great software! And these videos are very helpful. But - until now that I am translating a video to Greek - I have noticed at least two issues.
1) when I am at the window translating there's no spellcheck suggestion/correction. I might make a mistake with one or more words, but there's not a spellcheck to know if I have made a mistake.

2) when I am at the window translating and click "end" to go to the end of the line, for my surprise the video plays and there's no way to stop it. So I have to close that window and translate again the subtitles in that line.

With those being said, first thing I will do now is support the good work you have done, and give you a motivation to continue contributing.

In the way you did it, I’m assuming you end up with the translated file (so in your case only German subtitles), loosing the original english ones you made, is that correct? 
I’m working on subtitles for my trilingual film, and I want to have closed subtitles of two of these languages that you can switch between, so not both languages in the screen how you did it but more like Youtube or Netflix with a selection. Is it possible to only have one file that can be opened with both language options? Or do you make a separate file for each language? So far I’ve made separate files and am now trying to import them into Premiere to export them all in the same Video file.

What about two lined subtitles? This /N is so annoying. How to make this more comfortable to use? How can I translate the video and make the two lined text also on two lines?

I have 2 subtitles from the same movie in different language but the other has a time code that didn't sync wth the movie. Can I copy the time code from the sync one to the other? if it's possible, can you show me how?

Instead of deleting the remaining translation, you could cut it, so when you paste into the next line's field, you don't need to remove all the preceding lines, you'd just cut the text after the current line, and so on.

i'm getting this really weird bug where i'm unable to paste anything into the translation assistant: right-clicking in the translation field, cut/copy/paste are all grayed out. if i try to use cmd+v (i'm on mac) the video plays the current subtitle, even though that is not the shortcut for it at all. and, of course, nothing gets pasted into the translation field. any idea what might be going on there?

It would be amazing and it would save us a lot of time, if that 'Translation Assistant' could automatically translate the text into our preferred language, and let us edit it if it needs to. I think that is possible by using Google translation API.

It's better to use Subtitle Edit to translate subtitles in stead of translating line by line throught Google Translate

In Windows Subtitle Edit I open the video, open the original language English.srt, I use the program to translate from english.srt to portuguese.srt, after that I am going to adapting phrases to the sync previously set. 32 characters per line, minimum 1400ms and maximum 5000ms... 1252:Ocidental 23, 967 fps. Using wave sound to sync the audio, the video and the subs...

I really want a program which do the sabe job as in Windows subtitle edit. I'm new in Linux world!

For now, I'll have to use dual boot, Windows 10 and Linux Mint. Until I find a good Linux program.
