I know about the losing the items. So basically they switch their hot bar as they go to another item. The game glitches out and still remembers that you dropped an item but you did it at the same time as you switched your hot bar so the game just gives you a duplicate of the item you dropped and deletes the other one. You can use this to duplicate different items.
