excellent source of Deutsch material for beginners learning the language. The main thing that scares me, is the thing I have been intrinsically trying to deal with, which is Deutsch's organization of a sentence is like backwards for English. For instance, they would say "Can i to the bathroom go"? where as we would say, Can I go to the bathroom. It not necessarily a bad thing, its just something I'm going to have to gradually adjust to. You can actually play around a lot in terms with what you say with that though, I've heard.

Although I'm a native Polish speaker I have always found German grammar quite easy to learn. Our languages comes from a different families (Germanic and Slavic) but they share common traits like verb conjugation, cases,
masculine, feminine and neutral nouns. It helps with grasping those ideas intuitively. I believe that some non-European or even English speakers don't feel it as I do as they don't use that stuff in their native languages.

I'm a native speaker and it's quite astonishing how difficult it seems to be. So many rules, so many exceptions ... I just know what words have what gender.

Unfortunately I can't give you an idea how to learn words properly. It's just naturally for me that a table is male, milk female, a window neutral and a computer male.

But don't think that English is easier for us. I once really put my foot into it when I called the child of a friend an "it". What can I say, children are neutrums over here!
