Ugh...if you can't have a camera zoomed in on all 144 players then this stuff needs to stop

If the rule is going to be played that tight.. then stop growing 6-7” rough and zooming in on every blade of grass. There has to be a medium somewhere.

Still happy that he won, and that he took it like a champ.

I get the rules but this did not improve his lie in any way. Sucks that he got a penalty. Jon Rahm is no P Reed.

Imagine if he had a one stroke lead instead of a 5 stroke, this would be a huge issue.

Ridiculous! If we're going to zoom in on John Rahm's shots, then zoom in on everyone's shots - all of their shots, all of the time, all in slow motion. One player actually ground his club while playing from a hazard today but nothing said by anyone.

Me and my buddies never charge 2 strokes for that

Taylormade won’t be mad that this will be playing over and over for weeks 😂

I've made a lot of comments on here because it's very interesting to see the diversity of views on the exact same video. I believe he, when grounding his wedge caused the ball to move . And I believe he saw it because he purposefully planted his wedge in an exact location pressing downward. He's not going to do this while looking at the hole. After looking at the video about 20 more times, yeah I have no life, I believe he planted his wedge in that particular location as a mark for where he wanted to strike the grass. He played the shot like a bunker shot, striking the grass and popping the ball up softly. As golfers know, this is bunker shot technique. It's one of the reasons why grounding is not allowed in a bunker, making marks and improving lies. Had he done the right thing and called out the infraction, it's quite possible that they head to 17 with Rahm only up 1.

Glad that didn’t cost him the tournament, that would have been Bs.

These are the rules and golf purists will say "well those are the rules" and defend them...but the reason some of the stupid rules of golf have changed (putting with flag in, grounding club in bunker, etc ) are because people have complained and complained and eventually someone listened and changed it...this rule is a perfect example...did this infraction change anything? Absolutely not, he did not really improve his lie, it was unintentional, and it was so small that they literally had to hwve a camera to zoom in and look at the two dimples of movement of the ball...bottom line, if it didn't affect play, it shouldn't be a rule...this is different than what Patrick Reed did, which was blatant cheating...

Busch league call. If he wasn’t in or near the lead, there wouldn’t be a super close, slow mo camera on it. Love when the PGA/USGA apply common sense to a situation

If it's in the rules, then they need to enforce it. I think it's a bad rule, though. No one could see the ball move without zoom lens and slow motion. Probably should change rule.

Wow, that must've moved 1/2 a millimeter! Geez...

I love how he responded to the issue. Great winner.

Why are they still zooming in so closely?! Weren’t they supposed to quit doing this?

Nicklaus used to say that's why he never grounded his club.

Tony Finau, in Saturday’s 3rd round did the same thing and he did not get penalized

These are the rules that plague golf. Let's have common sense please

X Senior mini tour player here: The ball in that lie should NEVER be approached like that. It is a lesson he will have to learn the hard way. I've played many tournaments where the Jungle around the greens is like that and if you are lucky enough to get a fluffy lie, LEAVE IT ALONE!
