AirPower24 AirShow Austria 2024 (Zeltweg Flughafen) - Day 1, Donnerstag/Thursday - F-35, F-18, etc

With great pleasure, for the first time, I attend the AirPower24 Airshow in Austria at the Hinterstoisser Air Base in Zeltweg. We are in Styria, a state in the southeast of Austria, just a few kilometres from the Red Bull Ring circuit. This event and the English Riat are the largest air show open to the public in Europe. It has a rich program of spectacular ground performances, flight demonstrations of the Austrian Air Force, international military aerobatic squadrons, and European civil aviation participants. To give you an idea, in this 2024 edition, about 300,000 visitors are expected, 200 civil and military aircraft from 20 different nations. Among the very popular flight shows/displays will be those of fighter jets such as the F-35, F-18, F-16, Eurofighter Typhoon and Saab JAS39 Gripen. Again, there is great interest in Messerschmitt Me109 and Me262, Lockheed C-130 Hercules, Airbus A400M and helicopters such as Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk and Bell AH-1F/209 "Obra" aircraft. Also, a lot of shows from the aerobatic teams of various countries, including the Italian "Frecce Tricolori". In this first video, referring to Thursday, we decided to stop near the airport to enjoy the arrival of some aircraft in preparation for the official shows that will take place in the following two days. Con grande piacere, per la prima volta, assisto all'Airshow AirPower24 in Austria presso l'Hinterstoisser Air Base a Zeltweg. Ci troviamo nella Stiria, un land del sud-est dell'Austria, davvero a pochi chilometri dal circuito Red Bull Ring. Questa manifestazione, assime al Riat Inglese è il più grande show di aerei aperto al pubblico in Europa con un ricco programma di spettacolari performance a terra, dimostrazioni in volo dell'Aeronautica militare austriaca e di squadroni acrobatici militari internazionali e partecipanti dell'aviazione civile europea. Per darvi un'idea, in questa edizione 2024 sono attesi circa 300.000 visitatori, 200 aerei civili e militari provenienti da 20 nazioni differenti. Tra gli show/display in volo molto ammerati saranno quelli dei jet da combattimento quali F-35, F-18, F-16, Eurofighter Typhoon e Saab JAS39 Gripen. Ed ancora, grande interesse per Messerschmitt Me109 e Me262, Lockheed C-130 Hercules, Airbus A400M ed elicotteri come Aereo Sikorsky S-70 Black Hawk e Bell AH-1F/209 “Cobra”. Inoltre tanto spettacolo anche dalle Pattuglie Acrobatica di diversi paesi tra cui quella italiana "Frecce Tricolori". In questo primo video, riferito alla giornata di Giovedì, abbiamo deciso di sostare nei pressi dell'aeroporto per gustarci l'arrivo di qualche velivolo in preparazione degli show ufficiali che prenderenno luogo nei due giorni successivi. Great show! I really miss air shows, nothing good in CH this year. Maybe next year I will go to this, looks like Zürich to Liblijana then a 2hr drive, why not!!

Great video! If I am not mistaken the sound recording of this first Airpower video seems much more natural and louder than that of your videos from friday and saturday which seem to be more muffled. Did you change anything in your recording equipment for the following days?

Sind gerade zurück aus zeltweg in lindau . Waren zum dritten Mal dort und es war nicht das letzte mal. Toll das es sowas noch gibt. In deutschland undenkbar😂😂😂😂

Wow, that’s awesome! You’ve finally been to an air show. I think I told you how great it was when I went to El Cajon’s air show in San Diego East County. I saw an original first run Harley Davidson, the smaller version of the wing from Edward Air Base and many WWII fighters. I also saw some of the first jets made. As I said, the Wing inside was like looking at a giant, old F1 car, or Can Am car.

Every year there’s the Mira Mar air show with the Blue Angels, etc. Art Scholl used to fly and do stunts, and there was the famous air race as well. Honestly, I liked El Cajon better because it was smaller and more historic planes flying. Mira Mar air show was all the modern jets along with the stunts, and the race. Also the crowd was so large on base you had problems parking and leaving.

On Friday, the Me-262 did not fly. Why? 3x P-51 Mustangs did not fly at all. Why? Patrulla Águila did not fly at all. Why? The "theatrical" performance at the end of the Friday program was the most stupid thing I've seen in the 30 years I've been going to airshows. I only watched because there were many helicopters flying there….
