Absolutely. Just not when I'm doing it outdoors in the sun

Agreed. I will do a half hood or door at a time, used to do 3x3. But don’t overthink it anymore and no issues

do the hood all at once especially if completely flat. knock out all the large open areas then doors then finish with pillars and fenders with mini polisher. use a compound and polish that is water activated so it doesn't matter if it dries. Its still easy to buff off with a mist of water. this method saves me an hour.

I passed the whole freaking door at once without stopping, especially when cutting. It matters so much less than it seems as long as your pads are clean.

I agree. DIY Gold Polish makes this technique the way to go.

The key here is if the condition allows haha. But for the most part absolutely agree

Hi, as far as I can see you are using the same Bauer polisher that I recently bought. What speed settings do you recommend for 1st stage (compound) and for 2nd stage (finishing polish) for beginners? A bought Meguiar’s M110 and M210. Asked them and they recommended 4800-5800 OPMs for M110 and 3800-4800 OPMs for M210. Should I use those speed settings? And what numbers on the speed setting wheel correspond to those speeds? Thanks

Some brands like KochChemie's Cutting Compound is brilliant and allows a Detailer to do larger sections even for a novice. I use Rupes and their pads 95% of the time. Rupes Coarse Compound breaks down quicker so I work in smaller sections, but work faster.

As you gained more skill and experience do you think the compound or polish working time determined the section size?

I've been dealing for years and I can't remember when it started. But for some reason when Im either buffing a scratches or taking out etched bug stains. I get a (not sure how to describe) a distorted wavy mirrish effect. Didn't have this problem before. Idk if I'm doing something different?... I use a drill with a buffing/polishing pads. Perhaps if you would be so kind to lmk how to contact you so I send a picture. And perhaps get some advice? If so maybe by messenger? Tys

I’m about to do it for the first time and I’m not doing it in tiny sections each panel of the car is gonna get cut in 2 sections and for the hood and truck they are gonna get split in to 4 sections .. I’m not doing this out of inpatients I’m doing that because my adhd brain will have a horrible time doing 12x12 sections

How much polish/compound are you reapplying to the pad after each section? Sometimes I have a hard time gauging how much is enough without overloading the pad.

How do you polish around badges? Remove them? Or over them? Or?

One thing i found:" Companding and polishing ○ processes do not eliminate existing scratches."

I end up doing bigger sections because it’s easier and faster. Glad I’m not doing something wrong
