You can turn off sign-in under the "Sign-in Options".
Depending on what version of Windows you have, there's a timer (1-15min) or Upon Restart option in the dropdown menu. But they all have a "Never" option in there too.

I purchased the same laptop last October except mine came with an Intel CPU. So far, it's been spot on with speed and no hiccups. I will be upgrading the NVMe drive and memory after the warranty wears out. Surprisingly, the warranty for LENOVO computers is very affordable than others. Good choice, Britec. I hope you get lots of good life out of it and enjoy it!

Hello! I have the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro RTX 3070 140w. I think you've mistakenly pointed out about that Turning on Hybrid Mode, actually it saves battery and uses the integrated GPU. As such, lower FPS and uses Freesync instead of GSync. Turning it off makes the High Performace GPU directly connect to the monitor and thus enables GSync.

Another thing that you might do is set your battery limit to 80 percent for max charging.

First thing to do is disable the people icon on the taskbar, that was my #1 main priority when I bought my custom £1, 000 laptop 🤣🤣🤣

As far as I can tell, Open Shell (formerly Classic Shell) still works with Windows 11. I'm still using it with Windows 10. The newest version is: OpenShellSetup_4_4_170. You can choose from three start menu looks, but my favorite is Windows 7. Oh, and did I mention it's free?

Excellent video Brian although in my opinion, the very first thing you should do when you get a new laptop is the software updates for the OS and THEN the bloatware and everything else you mentioned. Only reason i say that is because you 'may' have problems with the OS right out of the gate and if you don't address them first with a software update it will just keep happening.

The McAfee removal is a real pain in the butt. Even with revo there's still stuff of them on the laptop. At least mine, and this I tried to remove with revo pro!

Nice one Brian, what I actually do is..
Disclaimer : Think before you do, do a proper research of your laptop brand.
Tip : The best thing I do is I format the whole drive and do a fresh windows install myself. Did it on my HP laptop. No problems so far no manufacturer bloatware that always runs in background and finally debloating windows.

Nice video Brian...
Cheers

I agree with pretty much everything and have been doing the same things for all the systems I'm maintaining (around 10).
What I don't understand why people still bother installing third party antivirus and firewall.
Windows Defender does a pretty decent job the last couple of years.
And I ALWAYS install and use a Macrium Reflect.

the first thing to do is take a snapshot of the system so that you can always go back to the new system if u ever mess up with drivers and system.

Rather than removing the bloatware manually, I'd much rather reinstall the OS.

1. Install Windows 10
2. Update Windows
3. Run Chris Titus' script to disable telemetry and mouse acceleration
4. Disable animations
5. Run a windows debloater tool and uninstall other unnecessary software
6. Image with Clonezilla.
7. Install programs as normal.

Step 1 ensures that I have a clean OS. I have encountered persistent programs that reinstall themselves (I'm looking at you Asus) after uninstalling.

Regarding step 4, I heard that animations eat into your battery life, and I prefer having a snappier OS.

Step 5 removes the usual junk that Microsoft installs.

Step 6 ensures that if I ever had to reset my laptop, I will always have a backup to revert to.

I really want the right laptop. The laptop I have, has preinstalled windows 10 and updated it to windows 11 but has very low specs (Very low end cpu, and gpu.) I don’t know why HP likes to sell cheap laptop with low specs.

Pay attention to what you are buying from Stardock. I use their Fences software. I decided to buy a package and thought I was buying one time licenses and discovered I'd bought a subscription. So I'll buy individual software next time. I have dropped a number of programs, like Acronis, because of the change to subscription only model.
