Zip Tie Mod Explained!! Also Governor Bypass! Gas Club Car DS, Precedent & Onward!! Gas golf cart!

In this video I explain a quick and easy way to speed up your gas club car golf cart and still retain your factory rpm limiter.

NOTE: If you bypass the Governor then you do NOT need to use the Zip Tie method! The Zip Tie Method is mainly for people wishing to temporarily speed up their carts. These modifications are not harmful to your engine at all , unless you ride the RPM limiter for extended periods of time. You will feel it turn the cart on and off repeatedly. Once you feel that, you have found the limit and can stay just below it with the throttle.

Thanks for this video!! I just added this little slick method to my onward 6 seater lifted and increased the speed up to 25mph. Take off is very noticeable and the speed for sure. I didnt mess with the gov so I dont jack up the warranty. Im pleased with the results so far...lets see in 2 weeks if I get bored at the 25mph. lol thanks again!! Keep up the solid work on your vids...

The ziptie method worked perfectly for my 2023 Club Car Onward 4-seater non-lifted. I had to remove a small, plastic access panel under the rear seats by removing two push-in clips. The spring was easy to reach once the plastic panel was removed.

Hey good video work. Like the slow detail explaining.

I own 1994 CC DS gas.

Recently replaced the starter generator and voltage regulator (mechanic suggested I replace the voltage regulator since I burned out two starters in two years)

After all that is runs again. BUT, my throttle only goes full throttle or nothing.

Whether I depress the foot pedal 1/4 or all 4” it accelerates the same.

Scratching my head here! LOL

I want to run stock.

Suggestions ?

I performed the zip tie mod on my brother's 1999 club car. When it hit 23mph the oil light started flashing. Fresh oil change and full of oil. I lossened the zip tie and now getting about 20 mph no oil light. Will he pick up more speed if I open up the gorvern clamp?

Hello..I have a 2019 club car onward.. I put in a speed cable and I get 23.5 mph.. if I tighten cable further it sputters and jerks..I'm guessing this is the rev limiter? My neighbour's 2014 yamaha does 28..I'm guessing it has a bigger engine?

I see your other reply and am guessing the only other thing I can do is high speed gears??

Thank you

I just bought a 2014 turf 1, seems to have a really low set govenor on it. Are most these motors the same from 2000 and up? This method should work for me as well right?

So all I’m doing is zip tying that spring so it cannot stretch? And if I want to, can I take the zip tie off and it will revert back to normal without causes any damage to the governor itself?

I have a 2003 club car ds set up similarly but I removed my governor inside the gear box is there any problem with doing that/ potential problems?

I have adjuster the gov, but the engine cuts off then back on. I have installed a tach. Looks to hit about 3700-3900 when it shuts down then back on. Should I turn it down so it it doesn’t keep shutting down and back on? Also I used the zip tie method before but wasn’t getting 25mph. During the summer months it seemed to get extremely hot. Would it benefit to make an vent under cart to pull air to cool it off?

Hi, I just bought 2 -2023 Onward Gas lifted carts and tried the zip tie mod on both...the first on went great and the cart runs 28 mph but the second one i am only able to get 23 mph out of it with slow acceleration....I have tried to tighten the zip tie but it is as tight as I can get it...thoughts?

I just put a new EX40 generator, carbed, ect. Changed the crank, counter balance, coil. I can get it to run with no torque, easily starting or I can feather it to run and have slight torque. What am I doing wrong. I can build motors, NP. I have no idea what's up with this teans gov. If I nail it. The throttle body opens and won't start the motor. I can feather it and get it running but won't let me give any more throttle? I'm lost!

I have a 2020 Onward 4 seater lifted. I got 29 MPH on flat ground w/zip tie on the spring.. Increase of 9 MPH. I am running premium unleaded as well. Still plan to add mods and get to 40.

Thanks for good video. But I still have questions. You say in the video "the zip tie goes through the cable here". All I see is the spring. And you never installed the zip tie to demonstrate installation.

I did the zip tie mod and tightened the throttle cable to get the slack out of it. I can hit 31 mph now. Before it was 16 mph. However, I think by having done these two mods, it is impossible to do a smooth take off. Most noticeable when trying to reverse the cart out of the garage. I am wondering if I was to do your drill mod, would I just undo the zip tie mod and have pretty much the same speed, only it might take off smoother? And thanks for putting up this video!!
