"During the youthful period of mankind's spiritual evolution, human fantasy created gods in man's own image who, by the operations of their will were supposed to determine, or at any rate influence, the phenomenal world."

Voltaire is supposed to have said "God created man in his own image, and man returned the favor." Einstein says here "Man created God in his own image.'' he is saying the same thing, and goes on to add that God and his agency are imaginary i.e. not real. Some of you may have been fooled by the sappy background music and the appearance of Einstein speaking. Someone else is reading Einstein's written statement here. Einstein did not believe in a "personal God" and maintained that all his life. Take the anthropomorphism out of God and what do you have? It's pretty vague, nebulous, and does not count as the God that Christians, Jews, and Muslims are taught to believe in.

That's why every civilization has the same myths, I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just saying I have faith in what's right!

Enstein didn't believe in a personal God. But he did lean towards pantheism and an intelligent designed universe.
