Albert Einstein’s ‘God Letter’ | Christie's

The story of Albert Einstein’s ‘God Letter’, his single most famous letter on the subject of God, his Jewish identity, and man’s eternal search for meaning.

This private, remarkably candid letter was addressed to Eric Gutkind, whose book, Choose Life: The Biblical Call to Revolt, had been published the year before.

Two months after writing to Gutkind, Einstein would celebrate his 75th birthday, declaring that he was ‘a deeply religious non-believer’. A year later, he would be dead.

I was born Catholic. I always went to church but saw no change in my character. I want to change my life. But, in perjury, swearing I never changed.

But when my leader came and shared with me the word of God I was amazed... So he invited me to church... That day and I got into the church I was surprised because I couldn't imagine the people there were super happy, and while we were worshipping there, I felt God even though I had never seen him touched... But I'm really happy... Because I couldn't imagine God being true.. and after those events I continued attending church...

God is real... And all things have reason... And so we lived because we had reason... Im born again Christian...

.

God is love... And remember... God loves you...

My grandfather knew Einstein and told a story about his bar mitzvah lessons. Young Albert took issue with the Rabbi’s description of the world as the “center of the universe.” That rabbi was Jacob Gotthelf, my great grandfather. In his first explanation, the rabbi said it is the spiritual center. That wasn’t good enough for Albert, an argumentative 12-year old who challenged the concept of a spiritual universe. Seeing Albert’s pragmatism, my great grandfather drew a proof that any point in the universe can be defined as its center with any motion mathematically derived from that center so all motion was relative to that center. Although the math was beyond Albert at the time, he never forget that lesson. The Jewish Reform movement began in Germany as a rejection of religious dogma (Moses Mendelssohn 1729-1786) . Unfortunately, that movement was responsible for adopting an anthropomorphic God which contradicts Jewish orthodoxy that says God is beyond any definition. According to my father, Einstein believed in God as the creator... period. He never denied God’s existence and frequently acknowledged Him with references like, “God does not play dice with the universe!” So, there you have it!

"A legitimate conflict between science and religion cannot exist" "The bigotry of the non believer is as funny to me as the bigotry of the believer" ALBERT EINSTEIN

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.
"
– Albert Einstein, Letter, 24 March 1954.

*Stoicism: (Athens 300 BC) Is a philosophy of personal ethics informed by its system of logic and its views on the natural world.*
If a tree dies and becomes mulch; but creates many other trees.
As long as that tree never fails at becoming its purpose of becoming itself, a forest might call this: "perjury against creating the eternal forest.
And can be eliminated as a "tree in a forest" forever according to "forest preservation community" (everyone) forever for failing the promise of re-forestation.

Everything is in most holy books and most holy books came from someone's thought and belief and that belif came from somewhere
And that somewhere will lead to the universe in future

This is a must see video for everyone. Very interesting and worthwhile to learn more details of Einstein's thoughts on religion and God.

There are several links in the above to websites without any indication which website includes a translation of the entire letter, if any.

The theory of relativity is there in the bible. Einstein simply explained it further. 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

I was comforted to find Einstein was a teacher when I went on my own spiritual journey, it opened my mind to the possibility of a concept I now call "God".

I'm old enough to remember when many college rooms had pictures of Einstein in their rooms. He was the hero of enlightened thought and intelligence and he looked the part. I still remember the sense of misgiving.and doubt about his hero status Now 50 years later I have a clearer perspective and realise that that although he was a genius most eggheads get a lot wrong about life away from their field of expertise
We're all fallen in need of redemption
His lack of belief in a personal God is refuted by the experience of many good and wise people over the centuries

FYI ... It's "not" a letter. It's a "book review".

What you are reading is his review of Eric Gutkind, whose book,  Choose Life: The Biblical Call to Revolt.

Eric Gutkind wrote that Jews are superior to all other races and then goes into deep detail explaining his reasoning.

Einstein ripped into Eric Gutkind in that review of his book.

God is not a man that He should lie. He is Spirit. He is Alpha. He is Omega. He is ineffable. He is Light. 💡 ✨

He didn’t believe in God doesn’t mean God isn’t real.

Why do alot of religions say don’t believe in fake Gods? They knew there were other religions opposing Gods?

It is sort of tragic that Einstein, with all of his intelligence and imagination, missed the greatest point in the world, that there is a true personal God that not only created everything, but that wants to have fellowship with man. I believe that Einstein's ideas and formulas were actually inspired by God, as one human could scarcely come up with these truths and revelations without that inspiration from above.
