About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

I wont lie, I LOL'd a bit at the notion at the start of this video. Any kind of a bike platform does not make a "perfect" farm vehicle. However, the more I considered this as the video progressed, the more I realize that there cannot be any 1 "perfect" farm vehicle because every farm is different and every person is different. If nothing else, scooting out somewhere to check something and hatch a plan on a bike is better than running out in a sxs or on foot only to have to make another trip via the same method to do a task. You could go out, survey things, then make a plan and come back with the sxs or even the tractor if you needed something that large. No point in using fuel if you don't have to.
A side benefit of this, if the company is paying good attention, is that you will effectively be "testing" their bike in a way that most people will not. If the bike survives the farm, it will survive regular use by regular people.
Also, I like the helmet you use. For a bike helmet, it does not look like a sissy helmet.

I have a friend that has had grass-fed cattle for decades and uses a mountain bike for a lot of his duties. One trick he uses for hauling fence posts is he carries them in an old golf bag. He can use it like a backpack while on his bike or toss it on the rack of his ATV.

in the Netherlands where bikes are used a lot there's plenty of options for pulling a cart, whether it's meant for luggage, for longer trips with your pet, for a surfboard. usually they attach with a ballshaped joint on the frame just below the saddle, a bit goes straight back out to avoid hitting the wheel. the ball joint helps when taking a turn and also allows the cart to stay upright when the bike is leaning inward in a curve. other types attach to the rear axis. Google the Dutch word fietskar.

You may want to get a rear fender. In wet weather you'll get a brown stripe up your back.

Video idea: You should have Alfred follow you around the farm as you do farm chores making “what the hell are you doing” gestures every time you do something 😂

Gotta be honest, Alfred making fun of you jerry-rigging the bike is my favorite part. Genuinely puts a smile on my face with the fun yall are having.

As a biker I recommend getting a sturdier, more modern helmet and always buckling it, especially because of the terrain you're traversing.

Very cool. My mom has one. She lives in this city and someone stole it while she went into the store and they rode it with the alarm going off for a few blocks and ditched it in an alley. Luckily the cops found it and brought it back to her. She didn't even have it registered yet.. she was lucky to get it back!

Any video that starts with Abby having a good ATV run is a great video.

Morgan, I found GSF in early 2020 . It was the first or second channel I subscribed to. You helped me through the pandemic and you continue to inform and entertain me. I just wanted to say THANKS❤.

Great idea! As others have said, the helmet does you no good if it doesn't stay on your noggin in a fall. It needs to be buckled. Get a quick release if you foresee buckling and unbuckling it a lot. Also consider your wrists. They carry part of your weight and they get shaken about a lot on the rough ground of your farm. Since we're an upright species, our wrists aren't designed for that. Smoothing out the ride on frequently travelled paths is going to help a lot, preferably before you get wrist pains. There are also wrist braces that can help post injury.

The first two minutes brought back memories of my 16-year-old daughter telling me all the good reasons why we should buy her a car. I have a feeling you practiced all those "good" reasons on Allison first.

Having those trailcams to watch is such a beautiful lovely experience, those deer were beautiful, it's really interesting how constantly on edge and suspicious / aware they are of their surroundings.
