Well I mean yes the Theticon connection is real but I would say there is more to Sentinel killing Ironhide than besides RACE. I'm pretty sure it's because if Sentinel went after Bumblebee instead of Ironhide, Ironhide would have had a very strong chance of taking him out seeing as he is much stronger than Bumblebee. So the logical choice was to take out Ironhide first then go after Bumblebee.
