Those of us who were born in the mid 60s and later in the US were lied to about this woman. Because by the time we were old enough to see her on TV and remember it, they were no longer showcasing her as a guitarist.

Why does Charro not get the credit she deserves for being an amazing musician?

One of my bests memories of Las Vegas is the night Charo picked me out of her audience to dance with. I'm not as good a dancer as she is, but I sure enjoyed it!

I’m happy to see that Charro was much more than that cartoonish caricature we used to see on American television

When my wife and I were just married we went to NYC for our honeymoon in 1965.
We went to a show at the old Latin Quarter near Times Square. A big time Night Club.
I tipped the Maitre D, that’s what they did in the movies, and we got a table next to the stage.
Xavier Cougart was the headliner and he introduced this 16 year Spanish Girl who played the guitar.
She was younger than my 18 year old bride as we were a couple of kids
The drinking age in NY was 18
She spoke zero English. She was breathtakingly beautiful but not a beautiful as my bride and the old guy looked at her a number of times and repeated but she is so Young
He was 65 but they married later
She was incredibly talented . I think that was her first appearance in the US.

Before she became the "Cuchi, Cuchi" girl. A talented performer with a great heart. I would always remember her volunteering each year on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.
