We are building a Japanese carpentry school in France.
We will document this entire process with drawings, photos and videos, and make it an online course so that everyone can learn about Japanese carpentry in English through this real construction project.
We will use traditional Japanese techniques and construction methods, and use local materials such as wood, stone, and soil to build the most sustainable buildings possible. We hope you enjoy our carpentry learning materials.
Let’s enjoy woodworking together!

I just bought a Sakuri Kanna (groove plane) and was looking for the meaning of Shikii and Kamoi that were mentioned about the plane and I just found your video. Thank you for your explanation in the video because it will greatly help my use of the Kanna.

I am glad you are sharing these things with the world! As someone who has just started woodworking in general this has been very interesting!

Pages 133-134 plus 150-151, 228-229, and 370 of "The Complete Japanese Joinery" have some good reference sketches.

What is a good standard for the dimensions of the tenons/mortises? It's not included in pages 133-134.
