The Akai MPK249 is a 49-key MIDI controller for the home studio. It features 49 semi-weighted keys, 16 velocity sensitive drum pads with aftertouch, 8 continuous control knobs, and 8 faders. The Akai MPK249 can also control the DAW through the DAW controller buttons, and transport controls allowing you to start and stop playback.

In this video, we’ll do a demo of how to use the Akai MPK249, and cover why it’s a good choice to use with a variety of digital audio workstations. After that, we cover how to create and edit presets on the Akai MPK249, so you can set it up to work with different plugins, or digital audio workstations.

An excellent review. I got the MPK261, was looking to see what others had to say about but there isn’t much on the 261 so I figured that your review should apply to the 261 too

I’m curious as to why you said it’s not for performing live though. I’m not seeing why it wouldn’t work for that.

Great video! I'm using the 249 as a DAW controller for Reaper as well. Do you have any videos on how to set it up for a good work flow? Especially with EZDrummer or Perfect Drums? Cheers!

I have been searching high & low for a control on this KB for Transpose. WALA! You mention in this video that if you hold down both Octave Buttons, and then press a kb-key, you Transpose! Where did find this feature? I cannot find it in the User or Quick Start Manuals.
