Vivek Ramaswamy speaks often of the perils of victim hood, the Godliness of merit, and denies the existence of privilege. Vivek sings America his Rags to Riches story, but is it true? How self-made is Vivek and is he being honest with America about America?

Vivek is correct. You've misrepresented the caste system to make a point. Privileges are only for special traditionally poor caste groups in India. And no privileges anywhere outside India. Look around and you'll see most Indians aren't Brahmins yet they've succeeded in every country they migrate too. The reason Is VALUES not caste. The belief in KARMA, DHARMA and family, even if imbibed passively is the key to success.
Even Afro Americans and poor Africans in Africa who're following HINDU beliefs are succeeding because the VALUES are embedded in Hinduism.

The affirmative action policies that the Indian government implemented since its independence discriminate against the Brahmins and gives privileges to the minorities like the Muslims, Christians and the Dalits. This affirmative action policies are still in force and because of that many Brahmins in India are still poor and struggle to eke out a living. Because they are a priestly class who eschewed materialism most Brahmins in India are generally not rich and adopted a simple lifestyle. Seldom do they become businessmen but if they do they excel in it and become extremely successful. Even if they become successful they do not live an ostentatious lifestyle like some millionaires do, preferring to spend their money for good causes.

They are certainly not a privileged lot in India.

Although they have been systematically discriminated against they never complained and never cried victimhood like many other communities do. Many of them, despite the systemic institutionalized racism against them, educated themselves and found a way out of India whenever they can with whatever little money they can save and borrow.

They migrated to places like Malaysia, Singapore, Europe and and U.S.A. The U.S.A happen to be biggest beneficiary of this migration of one of the best class of people in the world, who are extremely disciplined, hardworking and intelligent. India is the biggest loser for having put in place an ill-thought of affirmative action policy since its independence.

It’s true they didn’t start on a level playing field. Jamal had a much easier route ahead of him. Vivek had to actually earn his way to Harvard and Yale while Jamal just had to check off “African American” and give an inner city address and schools would be offering him free tuition and grants. Vivek did the hard way, he never played basketball, he never smoked weed with his friends, he never went to parties, he never skipped school, he volunteered, he made something of his life, he actually respected himself. That’s why Vivek is a self made BILLIONAIRE and Jamal is a self made welfare recipient.

As an Indian, I get so amazed to see that how Americans who have never visited India in his/her entire lifetime talk about caste discrimination in India. Do even know how Indian societies work? Reality is very different from your classroom level theoretical study of South Asian countries taught mostly by some leftist narrative based professors.
It's not the first time that an Indian's or Indian origin people's hard work, culture, dedication and superior work ethic is just brushed aside by using this "caste" card. Its like, one needs some kind of bullshit reason to nullify someone's success and play a victim card.

Victim hood folks: "We start from different starting point. And thats the reason we dont succeed. The scoiety needs to be fixed for my problems. Until then I wont succeed".
Vivek Ramaswamy: "We start from different starting point. We need to make the best of it by surrounding ourselves with strong commitment to children and education. We need to improve ourselves to succeed and showcase that as an example to change society."

The concept of Meritocracy should be seen through Macro and Micro level. At the isolated micro-Meritocracy level, on mini task is the person better at a task. At the Macro-Meritocracy level, is the person great at maximizing their skill and situation. In other words, can they combine all available skills; soft skills, likeability, raw technical skills, intelligence, manners, self awareness, adaptability, improvisation, presentation, judgement, etc...and utilize it. That's complete well rounded Meritocracy. And closer to Real World meritocracy. Notice how this view of Meritocracy allows you to mold yourself to fit into any particular circumstances. It's never 1 or 2 or 10 skills, it's how to mix the right ingredients. It's a Meritocracy because you get to choose what areas you want to pursue that best fits You. There's infinite meritocracy boxes that You can choose to pursue.

He pulled a pump & dump. There was a medicine he got people to invest in, and then he did a "rug pull." He sold the stock before the test came back. He made his money 💰 from essentially scamming his investors. He's just a slick talker.

I would only say the moment we stop making excuses in the guise of level playing field for brown, black or white people, we can uplift ourselves and our respective communities and larger societies from backwardness & become successful.

I find this to be ridiculous. Facts show children that grow up in a two parent household do better. Not to mention two parents that are paying attention and guiding their children. So no. Come correct! Compare accurately.

It’s always these FBA types who wouldn’t have given a damn about the caste system, and suddenly they do, but with limited info on the fact that he comes from the most progressive part of India, that’s doesn’t even value the caste system,
Also the fact that his parents came from poverty when they’re in india and worked hard to succeed.
I guess it must come down to jealousy or straight bitterness, or ignorance, or all of the above

I can only pray that Black people will realize that, if you go to school, work hard, and learn something of value, if you don’t make it to the top, maybe your children will. Being American is the privilege, and if you think it’s not, name the country that’s better.

Fact is, if you made or have a billion dollars, you're probably not a very good person. (unless you're already donating or investing it for lesser off people) No matter the company or entity, I'd be hard pressed to find any billionaire who wasn't a complete piece of s@#$ or corrupt, phony salesperson.

You must make your own playing field. Maybe Jamal may have not got the grades to get into prestigious educational institutions and stop being a victim
