Installment Four - Football Officials Video Training Series NFHS Rules-Five Man Mechanics

Three plays this week, two plays involving blocks in the back and one play involving a blind sock block.

Love your insights and education on these plays. The first play in this the BJ was straight lined to the "block in the back" so he called what he "thought" was a block in the back. "Think" and "Thought" are two dangerous words for officials when they end up throwing flags. When an official "thinks" or "thoughts" they should be looking for more evidence to either support their call or go with the "when in doubt" rules of not calling it cause it probably didn't happen. Also need to trust other officials who may have had a better look/angle on such call.

I think it’s a catch as the knee reestablishes itself as the catch is made…
