They can do anything they want, write anything they want, as long as they fix the temporal incursion they can write off anything as a temporary change to the timeline. Daniels jumps in and the Duras and Romulans have won the civil war for instance, he has to fix the timeline. Visit any point in the trek timeline. Call it Star Trek: Temporal wars, Timelines or something. I'd watch the sh*t out of that

And also Agent Daniels actor Matt Winston is the son of legendary Special Effects artist Stan Winston. David Cronenberg aka Kovich has worked with Stan Winston in the past, Winston designed the fly creature in Cronenberg's film, 'The Fly.'

There is a fan theory about James Bond that says that "James Bond" is also a code name, like "007", and that when an agent becomes agent 007 they also adopt the code name. This is an in-universe explanation of why 007 changes appearance from time to time and why has been an agent for about about 60 years now. I wonder if it could be the same for Daniels: that there have been many agents Daniels throughout the centuries, being replaced every so often, but always with the same role.
