Using the HX Stomp with the HX Effects

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video I create a modular Line 6 HX family rig by running the HX Stomp in the FX loop of the HX Effects, which is effectively using the 4 Cable Method on the Stomp. This setup is ideal for people who want Helix tones in a more travel friendly format that can break down into smaller pieces.

I realized after I finished making this video that I had my Global EQ turned on. You may need to tweak your Global EQ to get the presets to sound similar.

Oh thank god. I thought I was crazy for wanting to do EXACTLY this! Even just being able to throw these in the gig bag! I feel less crazy now!

I believe you are the best HX info person on the tube. I purchased bot my Hx stomp and effects, because of your videos. Thanks for the info and I look forward to more.

That was outstanding Richie! BTW, on the HX Stomp if you press View to select Play view and then press the upper knob to open the preset list, it will tell you on the display the program change number. Then you won't have to use trial and error. Cheers.

Thank you Richie! This video is so timely. I was just planning to figure out how to use HXS and HXFX for some fly gigs next week! I want to express huge gratitude to you for your generosity and help. I just discovered you and your vids recently and have downloaded all of your HXS and HXFX presets, including the one you made for your Dad. You are, *by far* the most helpful/knowledgeable resource for these Line 6 units.

It's amazing watching you sculpt a sound from nothing or ass-tone to something great. It IS like Bob Ross in that in a half an hour we watch you take a blank canvas and turn it into something amazing. Good job!

You are the man, I almost sold my HX Effects. This setup is just what I needed because I have both pedals and together they sound amazing. Thanks

Rich, thanks for this video. I truly appreciate it. I have loved my HX Effects and was considering getting the HX Stomp. Day before yesterday I ordered the Stomp (Stormtrooper White) to incorporate it with the HX Effects. You sealed the idea for me. Thank you!

I went that route for similar reasons. But also that you can go really light and just use the Stomp and I have. Love the flexibility of this approach. One other benefit is you can get each piece separately and that helps with the money over buying the full Helix or LT,

I’m new to all this modeling and this video and how in depth you go is the best on the net . Thanks for all you do

Man tuning the sound with EQ to squash harsh frequencies was worth the price of admission, that’s the kind of skill I totally lack using these type of things when chasing tone, that overlooked stuff is critical with digital effects I think...

Thanks for being so generous with your time and efforts. I get the break-down thing and I followed everything you did there, no problem - but - I'll stay with the Helix Floor unit thank you. Much easier for me to set up.
Another great video Richie, a much better approach than some other (Canadian) clowns who shall remain nameless. No rambling on and on, putting on a solo performance for every example. Just enough review without all the redundancy seen from other "gear gurus" who get lost in their own egos.

I have the HX Effects and have been debating going full Helix or Stomp. Thanks for this video. It answers a lot.

Great video Richie, and this definitely scratches a few itches for me. First, the LT is a bit more svelte than the full-go Helix, but not by much, so this truly backpack-packable rig is a huge plus for me. Second, the HX Effects helps overcome some of the limitations of the HX Stomp in terms of available blocks and cable routing options. Third, using the HX Effects as the MIDI-powered "brain" is something I vastly underestimated. Finally, this type of setup allows the player to use whatever modeler/preamp they want. Love it!

Uno de los mejores videos que hay sobre el uso y versatilidad de los multiefectos, 4CM, qué colocar antes del Preamp, después del preamp, controles midi, etc. Congrats.

I’m not sure if this is something that has already been commented but to make it easier as far as I making the right preset correspond between the two, all you have to do is go to global settings, over to preferences, scroll one page over and in the third column there will be a thing that says numbering, there you can switch it from its default (14a as he said as an example) and switch it over to the 0-125. You’ll want to do this on both the stomp and effects for it to make sense.

Thanks for demonstrating how to do this. I recently invested in a second hand HX Effects (half-price on Ebay!!) and have kept in mind the idea of getting the HX Stomp for the Amp Modelling side of things.

So one thing I don’t get is he only has one send/return going to the stomp. How is he still having effects in the loop of the “amp” while also a still getting the cab sim when he’s going to the board from the effects. To me it would seem you’d have to go back to the stomp and out to the board from there. It’s certainly working snd he obviously knows what he’s doing but how is it still getting the cab and all that whole going out to the board from the effects?
