Good step by Supreme court for once. Drunk driving should be heavily discouraged and offenders deserve to rot in jail for their actions.

8 years ago, we had an accident where two drunk guys hit us from side, they just had minor injuries nothing serious. For sake of humanity we admitted them to hospital and the doctor too agreed that both were highly intoxicated. 2 days later we find they have logged FIR against us and the doctor report showed they were good and no intoxication was shown in report. The case went for 6 years and later we decided to end from ourside. The system is so corrupted that there's no place for honesty and humanity in india.

Sad part is that most of these drunk drivers are rich/influential people who get out. The poor like drunk truck drivers etc are the ones facing it.

2 days back in Goa, a high class person caused an accident which killed 3 and seriously injured 4. their test was done after several hours even then they had 3x the normal alcohol content in them. Since they are influencial people they got away from the spot with police security without taking any responsibility. The next day the driver isn't arrested but her husband was arrested even though there are multiple eye witnesses. The victims family and friends are fighting for justice. Maybe these rules are only for the middle class and low class people.

Good job by the honourable SC of India. Just two years of imprisonment for taking someone's life away is joke. There should be at least 12 years of imprisonment and lifetime ban on driving.

302 should also be included for wrong side driving especially on highway, because your willful negligence of driving on the wrong side of the road could lead to accidents and deaths.

True incident:- it was my first year in north campus Delhi University. I met a boy from rural Rajasthan, very intelligent, above 95% in 12th. He was my first friend of college.
One day outside of hindu and ramjas college a bmw or a mercedes hit him. He died in hospital.
The driver got bail within hours, because his father was a supreme court lawyer.
The future of that family living in rural Rajasthan went into darkness.😢😢

I personally think that people who do drink and drive should get their license canceled for good

My friend recently lost his life to a car driver who hit his bike from behind . My friend was on the back seat with helmet on and the bikes driver also had helmet on still, without any fault he had to lose his life due to the foolishness of that driver. So the cars driver will get a bail or get out in 2 or 3 years but my friend will never come back his parents aren't going to get his son back. I just had one question " is it fair ?"
