So you can become a member on my YouTube channel now (there’s a pun here somewhere…)
Being a member means you get 30 exclusive videos, all the artwork, all my scripts, a live stream every weekend, exclusive emojis and some other stuff I probably forgot, but… it’s totally worth it. Trust me bro. Link is here:

Everybody thinks of Nero as being the supposed 'monster of Rome', as the guy that literally burnt down most of Rome, fiddled as the fire was raging, and generally was only up to no good. Well, what if I put my Morpheus on and told you that all of this is a lie? That Nero never burnt down Rome, and didn't commit even half the evil deeds he is associated with. What if I told you that Nero is only a victim of history being rewritten by the winners — or the opposition in his case. Sure... Nero was far from a saint and would be seriously locked up right now, but my point is....: There is more to Nero than the evil we reduce him to. Let's take a closer look in today's episode.

Episode 4 of Rome's Greatest Emperors: Nero — The Monster of Rome

Notes:
As I already mentioned above... history is rewritten by the winners, and, in the case of Rome, it is entirely written by those that opposed the current (or previous) emperor. In the case of Nero — Suetonius, Tacitus and Cassius Dio were the ones responsible for most of the narrative we associate with him. Well... neither of the three writers was even alive while Nero reigned, and all of them had a serious agenda against the emperor, meaning that all of the sources on Nero... are not trustworthy.
That being said... no one can state, with absolute certainty, that Nero did not do what they accused him of. Ultimately this is one of history's most dire he said, she said scenarios, so... just keep this in mind as you continue down this rabbit hole and do your own research.

Get All My Artwork & Support The Channel:
I get a lot of questions about my artwork and where it’s from or rather who draws it. Well the answer is that I create it — I don’t draw it. I use AI to create the artwork, using specific prompts, specific style influences from 18th and 19th century artists, and I spend about 10 hours per video just on the artwork. Each video has roughly double the artwork of what you actually see in the video, so a lot of it is unused. The good news here though is that you can get all that artwork on my Patreon — the artwork I do use, and the artwork I don’t use. Plus, by subscribing to my Patreon you are making a major contribution to Briefed and helping me to keep this channel going, because this is my full time job and the survival of the channel and quality of the videos greatly depends on said support. In return for supporting, you get more than the artwork though — you also get exclusive videos and producer credit, as well as access to a producer group that gets to vote on thumbnails, gets behind the scenes etc.
If you choose to become a Patron — thank you. I do not take it for granted.

Footage:
As always, some Game of Thrones clips in there, a little bit of Nolan's third Batman (Dark Night Rises), and clips from Netflix' Roman Empire series — the season with Commodus, who was my Caligula stand in for the sake of this video. Oh, and the blonde guy in the beginning, that's Octavian from HBO's Rome.

Clips:
Alright, used a bunch in this one: The epic opening scene I used is from Britannia, the ooooooooh smoked that with Jamie Foxx, that's from Power. The long 'everything is extra' is from Peaky Blinders, the actor thing and other RDJ stuff is from Iron Man 1, 3 and Avengers 1. Then we have the mandatory Game of Thrones — that's Olenna saying you might not have enjoyed watching him die. The 'Who's Gonna Kill Me' is from vikings, and The King Is Dead, is from John Wick — I think John Wick 2 or 3. And the 'I'm gonna kill mom' and skirt scene is Klaus from 'Umbrella Academy'.

The fiddle was added in the modern retelling. The contemporary line was that Nero played the lyre as Rome burned.

Your tone, cadence and overall vocal performance are excellent. We get the dark, deliberate, intense narration on Nero's supposed crimes, drop the bombshell that these are false, we're hooked.
Then you instantly switch it up, speak more naturally and pivot into a Kardashian joke 😂

Your series on Roman figures is excellent, man. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of Mike Duncan, but he's a Roman historian and author, and I think even he would be impressed with your work. Looking forward to the next one already!

Another masterfully told story. I had actually believed what I learned about Nero and am glad that you taught his actual life. I can't imagine how it is for a person to know that their name is being disgraced in their death and they can't say anything nor do anything but watch in their deaths knowing lies are being said about them. And as always Rocky reference. Always awesome. Lol. I loved this video a lot, brother. Great job, yet again. Awesome storytelling, art, comedy, and even the freestyle rhymes. Lbvs. Salute to you yet again
