You need to flip #2 & #3. Learn the concepts and types of Performance/Load Testing (Breaking Point, Peak Hour, Scalability, Stress/Volume, Duration, etc.) first. As part of this will be Profiles/Scenarios (User and/or Transaction) definition and Workload modeling. Then you can talk about the other items related to Service Level Agreement metrics (what to measure, how to measure, and how often to measure) like Response Time, Throughput, Resource Utilization (CPU, Memory, Disk Space/Swapping, Database Connections, Firewall Connections, etc.), and others. This then leads into the tools (Load/Performance and Monitoring) and how you use them to achieve the items listed above.

Build the foundational knowledge first before you get into a tool. By understanding the foundational information then you can select the right tool(s) to use and how to use them correctly. Then you get hands on experience to backup and reinforce the foundational knowledge.
