This. And I think of people like Britney Spears who had ADHD and was put on lithium and labeled with having bipolar disorders. The disorder she had was a dopamine problem. Not a serotonin problem. She wasn't bipolar, she was a victim of abuse...which also occurs in cycles, too. I think we need to take a step back from listening to the people around the patient and start listening to the patient before shoving such dangerous drugs down their throats. SSRIs are deadly when someone is on them who doesn't need them. It really makes me apprehensive anytime I hear someone say they were diagnosed bipolar. They dole SSRIs out like candy any time someone is sad. They actually can increase the risk of suicide. These drugs are so very dangerous. I think it is sad that there is no way to definitively prove that someone has this disorder.
