I remember my mom telling me a Japanese story where a sparrow, who was under the care of an old man, ate the grandmother’s glue. The grandmother then cut off the sparrow’s tongue. I can’t remember what the story was called, but reminds me of the corn glue

automatically made me think one of the episode of The Powerpuff Girls: "Paste Makes Waste." In that episode, a student named Elmer has a habit of eating glue.

No, this brought back so many memories from when I lived in Japan 😭 I live in Korea now and no one talks about this!

We had a similar product in the US. It was called school paste or simply “paste.” Which was just starch, water and either clove or peppermint oil as a preservative.

Lol I have had to have the "nontoxic does NOT mean edible" conversation with one of my friends multiple times. Her favorite treat is Orbeez. She would definitely eat glue... She's an adult.

I'm a Filipino, and when I was a bit younger, my grandmother would buy us Glue but made of kanin (cooked rice) . Like only bigas no other additives, and if we had no glue, I would get bigas from our bahaw (leftover cooked rice) and mush it then spread it across the paper, and it works fine 😊
