My Art and Creativity PODCAST:

Snapchat: LironYan3

In this video we'll learn how to create DEPTH using SATURATION in watercolor. We'll learn by painting a beautiful scene from lake Garda in Italy.

Saturation is but one of MANY elements for creating that beautiful sense of depth, distance and three-dimensionality.

Some additional means are values, edges and details.

Let me know what you think of this quicker, "highlights" video format.
I know many love to see full, real time, narrated processes - but I thought I'd mix it up a bit!

Here's a link to the reference photo:

Enjoy! And let me know how it goes in a comment down below 😊🙏🏼

I have been waiting for you to use bright colors that are not muddy with grays. I appreciate your narrative of your thought process.

Love those values! This picture has great warmth in contrast to that cool rock in the background.

Just the size of the painting is enough to bring on a panic attack Liron!!! You seem to do it effortlessly. Perhaps there's no difference between small and large!? You teach so well. One thing I noticed once more; your yellows seem so opaque and dull but then they became a luminous GLOW. Full of sunlight Wonderful. I always go for a Cadmium yellow thinking of the sun. Not necessary obviously. Thanks very much.

Hi Liron, this is Malcesine!!! Lived there ten year and painted too by the lake, but your paintings are better than mine! 😄😄😄

Love how you added the closeups that you took with your phone and how you generally edited the video to get to the main point. 🙂

This is awesome! wished this is in longer video form especially on detailing part. Overall it is still fun but the longer format is better :)

I like it when you zoom in really close. I can see beautiful paints on paper texture and your brush strokes . Amazing painting.

Really love this format... Have a hard time getting to the longer (20+ min) type videos because there's only so much time I can spend watching them...when I really should be painting! 😉
But I love the content and lessons & don't want to miss any! I've even gone to watching things sped up 1.5x in order to watch the longer videos in less time but sometimes I just don't get to them at all.

Hi Livonia. I have been doing watercolors for years and I am trying to adopt a new, looser style and approach in my future artwork. Your videos have proven to be invaluable to me. Knowing your thinking processes while you are painting and focusing on only a few important points in each video is incredibly instructive.

The buildings really stand out from the background 3D effect. Very educational as usual!
