Hey all! In this video we take a look at how to add your own cores into RetroArch on Steam, as the steam version is limited. For this example, I install PSP and PS2 emulator cores.

If you're still running into issues, try copying the files from the "info" folder as well from the standalone version of RetroArch

Do the imported cores still support the cloud saves?

For all the newer commenters, IDK if PCSX2 is even compatible with the newer updates of retroarch, since the standalone version of Retroarch has the new Play! core option. I did all the steps and it won't recognize the PCSX2 as a core still, but I was able to transfer over the newer core to the Steam version. Same steps of just copying over the files from BOTH the dll files and the info files. LMK if I am wrong cuz I still wanna use PCSX2 <3

I have been using the steam version and it works good and convenient.
I probably won't manually install cores at the moment as I am fine with it now.
Mostly playing Saturn and 64 games.

This method doesn't seem to work anymore. The core is listed in the Steam app as the name of the dll without the license. It does not associate it as a PS2 core.

I laughed a bit where Mr. Sujano showed the website where one can learn more about what ps2 bios is... quite hilarious website indeed

I can't seem to be able to download the PCSX2 core like you did. Any suggestion ?

Also, you dont have to thank me for mentioning this but you should let others know if your cores aint showing its due to not having no core info on steam to which you need to copy the core info in the info folder in retroarch stand alone version

The cores i add dont show up on the steam version with names. pcsx2 doesnt show up as Sony - Playstation 2 (PCSX2) but as just the name of the file i put there. it also doesnt work despite that i already gave it a bios

from what i experience, copying the standalone retroarch's core doesnt make it work on steam's core. There seems to be other files that are required as i noticed every core in steam's retroarch has it's own respective license and source file. This is steam's doing so best way rn to play psp and ps2 is using standalone's retroarch until hopefully steam releases cores for both of them
