Still all these years later, find it difficult to comprehend what happened…along with Ayrton, a piece of many died that day. I was fortunate enough to have watched him race in person and will never forget it.
Truly unbelievable car control, the determination to win whilst at the same time the humanity to help others like Comas and Donnelly.

Senna was supreme at Monaco. I recall in his rookie season in 1984, Senna the rain master drove his Toleman from 13th on the grid to 2nd behind Prost in a controversial early finish. If the race had have run another lap, Senna likely would have been the winner.

The fact that this is in Monaco aswell. Such a short track. If it was on Spa where the laptime is 50% longer, this pole gap would've been a "smaller" percentage. But that gap on Monaco is just something else. Senna is the best

“Com qualquer outro piloto você diria ‘não seja ridículo’. Mas ele ficou tão preocupado com isso que fomos olhar para a parede.

“Marcas de pneus mostraram que alguém havia batido na extremidade de um dos enormes blocos de concreto e girado um pouco.

“Ele estava colocando seu carro a alguns milímetros daquela parede e, quando a borda se moveu um pouco, ele bateu nela.

“Pensei então que esse cara estava além de tudo que eu já havia experimentado antes.”

Yes, 2 seconds is a huge gap between the first and second place, no doubt. Now, can you imagine 10 seconds ? This is what has done Gilles Villeneuve in the rain during qualy at the 1979 Watkins Glen Grand-Prix ! This is a massive difference, requiring super skills and no fear……
