Apostrophes are one of the things that even native English speakers struggle to get right. If you can learn how to use apostrophes correctly, you'll master something that a significant number of native speakers can't do!

I think it's important to correctly use apostrophes because for those of us who know how to use them correctly, a written sentence with apostrophes in the wrong place can be very confusing, and can even change the meaning of some sentences. It makes me mad when I see apostrophes used badly, and I'm not the only one!

There are two types of apostrophes in the English language: the apostrophe which indicates possession, or ownership of something, and the apostrophe which indicates omission, or shows that we've removed some letters (or words!)

I'll also explain the difference between its and it's, which is even more confusing! But don't worry, once you've seen the video you'll understand perfectly the difference between the two.
