Sukiyaki
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mirin
- 1/2 cup sake
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 carrot(sliced)
- 4 green onions(save white portion for sauce and slice green portion)
- 1 bunch enoki mushrooms
- 8 shiitake mushrooms
- 1 bunch shungiku(also called tong ho or chrysanthemum)
- 1 pack firm tofu(drained and cut)
- 1 pack shirataki noodles(drained)
- 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 egg(beaten)
Instructions
1. Rinse and cut all of the ingredients that will be used in the hot pot.
2. In a pot, heat mirin, sake, and sugar on medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the alcohol is evaporated(3-5 minutes).
3. Once dissolved, add soy sauce.
4. In a hot pot or cast iron pan, heat neutral oil on medium high heat and char the white portion of green onion.
5. Once charred, remove the green onion and brown a few slices of beef until slightly cooked.
6. Remove beef and pour in sauce.
7. Assemble hot pot and enjoy.
I like to dip the beef in beaten raw eggs but you can eat it however you like.
