In this livestream, my guest, Dawn Harkness, a semi-retired Massachutes lawyer, will answer the most common nomadic legal questions. Things like, what to do when you get "the knock", do law enforcement officers have a right to search your rig, residency issues, voting, cannabis, guns, and more.

Here at TheGalavan I feature vans, primarily designed and built by women, to give you inspiration for your own van build. I’m always on the lookout for other van life enthusiasts who want to collaborate and share their love of this lifestyle. I also love to cook from scratch in my van and share accessories, tips, and tricks to make van life easier and more successful for you.

This information is extremely helpful, thank you! To be fair, those two cops that harassed you or not cops, as you stated, therefore service, which may explain their poor behavior.🤷‍♀️ I fully support anyone that is driving impaired be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.👊🏻

Confirm if their law enforcement officer, then open the door. If you’re rude to them and you are in violation of something, you may be cited. It’s been my experience that simple neighborly kindness goes a long way.

Good info. In CT, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are good parking places. Thanks again.

Thank you. If you can, in a future video, talk about having things like axes and machetes in the van? Are they considered weapons ot tools for camping?

My understanding is: If not posted they can’t fine you. Also I do not respond to knocks 🤛 after evening, if it’s law enforce they should understand your caution.

Just curious what your lawyer friend specializes in. I am a law enforcement officer in a dept with over 8000 officers and know of no officers who treat law abiding citizens the way she described. I suspect her attitude has something to do with how she treats officers on contact.
