Recipe for coconut chutney saravana bhavan style:
Ingredients to grind to a smooth paste:
1 cup grated or sliced fresh coconut
4 green chillies
4 cloves of garlic
salt
jaggery 1 tbsp
1 tbsp tamarind soaked in warm water
2 tbsp chana dal / split Bengal gram soaked in water for 25 minutes.'
2 tbsp curry leaves

Add the following tempering to the ground chutney:
Heat 2 tbsp oil
Add the following
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1 red chilli'1/4 tsp hung/ asafoetida
curry leaves
Enjoy yummy chutney with idli, dosa, pongal, upma or adai
