if there was something like a time-machine, I'd go back to the 1970s and just stay there for the music and the simpler times.😊

I can imagine being 99 yr's old - bed ridden - in the hospital - waiting to meet my Lord - not able to speak - and someone shows me this. Thank you.

I got lost in this video for the 3 minutes it played. I was bessed to ive in Ventura for 30 years. Seeing rhe beach and Emma Wood State beach really made me misty eyed. Such a beautiful place and great place to have raise my kids. Simpler times. Cherished memories 70s music.. Thank you for posting.❤

As a California native, now living in Pennsylvania, let me say “thank you” for that beautiful and musical glimpse of home! ❤

IMHO America’s best song, by a lot. They had an amazing run, but this song totally transports me

"Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you're in diapers, the next day you're gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul. I remember a place, a town, a house, like a lot of other houses. A yard like a lot of other yards. A street like a lot of other streets. And the thing is, after all these years, I still look back... with wonder."
(From the last episode's ending of the series "The Wonder Years")

My town I grew up in, that's like a lot of other towns, is named "Eagle Rock", by the way. It's in Northeast L.A.. I live in Maine now, but the internet lets me still visit there, return again and again, with wonder.

The ambience of it all is wonderful, I have driven from Orlando to Dallas as a UK tourist from the UK in the 90s buying parts for my '68 Roadrunner, then drove up to Year one in GA then to Hollywood dragstrip in MI, then to INDY Cylinder head up in IN, loved every minute of it, brand new, 0 miles '91 Crown Vic had 8500miles on it when I took it back. Awesome times back then. Still own the Roadrunner brings it all back, miss it all dearly in this fkd up snowflake World we live in today. UK

I just watched a interview with America where they said the song was written about the drive south on this road from Vandenberg Airforce Base to Ventura.
So you got it right. Even the direction of travel. Goin south into Ventura.
At 2:29 you pass one of the “El Camino Real Bells” that is every fifty miles or so.

Brings back awesome memories for me as a 9 year old kid. Summer of 1980. My sister lived in Ventura and we spent that whole summer there. So familiar I still remember it. Up and down the coast. Nothing like it!

Drove this road for 25 years.
Fun facts: the "Historic El Camino Real" signposts are sadly almost all gone now, and of course same too for the emergency call boxes.

When I went to school in Santa Barbara I loved this drive. The new road is so much better. Hope one day I can drive it again but this time going to Santa Barbara.

This is a good song and brings back good memories. I used to live between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. I drove this portion of the Ventura Freeway many times going to and from college.
