There can be great benefit to having one partner keep the home fires burning and the other bringing home the bacon, even without kids. But it sounds like there was only one partner doing both parts. Sorry you went through that.

The lack of judgment and damnation is incredible no dressing it up, no over the top denouncments, petty name calling, not going into specifics because it doesnt really matter to you. Wow. You have come a long way.

In Spanish, Saturday is sabado (sabbath), and Sunday is domingo (derived from Latin dominus, master/lord). So the idea of Saturday being the sabbath and Sunday being the Lord's day is an ancient one, and that's why we get to have weekends.

Grew up in a Baptist church with a Seminary attached. I from early years had access to great theological minds that were patient and would show me the answers in the Bible, or loan me great authors to read on more " fuzzy" subjects. I never understood the lack of curiosity of my church peers and my siblings.

Its so hurtful when the one person who is supposed to love you the most betrays you. I just went through that 6 months ago and it still makes me angry and hurt. Especially bc it was my best friend he cheated with. I tried to sign up for a counselor at 3 different places and no one is taking new clients. If you dont want to be with someone, just tell them and move on.

Thanks for sharing all of this, Nate. It's great to learn more about you and how you came to be where you are now. I'm sorry you have to relive any of your trauma for it, but I'm still grateful for your decision to share.

Religious Studies major here.. The MAIN reason Sunday became the sabbath is that Christians wanted a total break from Judaism. They chose to make the 7th day Sunday to reinforce the difference.

Why churches meet on Sunday is a pretty interesting topic, and there are really 2 reasons for this.

The first big reason is not about why on Sunday, but why NOT specifically on Saturday. In Jewish culture, there are a long set of ceremonial laws, more commonly referred to as the Law of Moses (not to be confused with the 10 Commandments, which is a different set of laws). As the name implies, ceremonial laws are rather lengthy and specific when it comes to what you have to do to clense yourself of sin and be allowed to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Examples of these include circumcision, not eating "unclean" meats (like pork), offering a sacrifice with your healthiest/spotless lamb, ect. One of these ceremonial laws was to keep the Sabbath holy and as a day of rest. When Jesus came and died for our sins, not only did he become the perfect "sacrificial lamb, " he also completely fulfilled the Law of Moses for everyone, so they no longer need to be followed. All you need to do now is to accept the gift of salvation to enter God's kingdom.

The second, like you talked about, Jesus was said to have raised on the third day, that being Sunday (apparently counting the day of his death on Friday ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). So Sundays are the weekly anniversary of Jesus rising from the dead. So deciding to make the statement that Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses for us, and wanting to celebrate Jesus's victory over death on the weekly anniversary of doing so, Sunday is now considered "The Lord's Day" by many Christian Churches today. Hope that clears things up for you!

With all peace and love, this took a wild turn in the last quarter with the apologetics arc 😂 I've never seen anyone go backwards from "atheism" to apologetics (I know he said he was Calvinist, not atheist multiple times, I'm just simplifying for the sake of a joke)
