If there's anything I've learned over the years, it's that an inning will last as long as it takes for Scully to have his say.

This is the Vin Scully I'll always remember. Yes, his calls of history plays were amazing, but this is a great example of why it was such a pleasure to listen to him call a game. No matter what's going on in the game, he'd make it interesting. There's never been anyone better, and there never will be. Rest in peace, Vinny.

i love how he says he's not gonna do the story with 2 outs then does the entire story with 2 outs

Its like the baseball gods made sure Stripling would keep giving up hits to let Vin continue telling the story

Whenever Vin Scully said, “I did a little research”, what came next was going to be really good.

This is a perfect example of what bob costas said “the game slows down for nobody, except for vin scully”

Rest in peace to a legend ❤ I hope future generations of fans are just as aware of Scully's calls and life the way many of us are.

I love how he doesn't even attempt to segue between the beard stories and in-game action.

I love how knowledgeable he is about this subject. You think one night after the game he went home and googled beards and their history? That's dedication to your craft. He's the greatest to ever do it!

I sorely miss story time with Vin. How blessed and lucky we were to grow up listening to this man all season long year after year. We miss you Vin, Rest In Peace.

This is just one of many examples during his 68 seasons of why he is the best - now - and ever will be. There is no announcer in any sport that plies his trade by himself. It's really tough to listen to all the "second, third, and forth best announcers during the playoffs and world series games after listening to the great one for all these years. Vinny, I miss you already!

I feel so blessed to have grown up in Los Angeles and had the opportunity to listen to this genius regularly in my young life

These are the type of gems I miss from Vin Scully. Brilliant and knowledgeable with a voice gifted from God to broadcast baseball games. There'll never be another quite like him.

I remember listening to Vin announcing the death of baseball announcer Harry Caray while calling a Dodgers game. He managed to work in the most amazing, literary tributes to Mr. Caray replete with heart-warming anecdotes while also calling balls and strikes and line drives and runs. Only Vin could pull that off. He was a master story teller and taught you as much about life as he did about baseball. He was the soundtrack of my growing up years in S. California. I will miss him forever.

He starts this story with two outs...and he gets a hit, and the story goes on. Only for Vin. The baseball Gods always smiled on Vin and let him finish his stories. One of the greats.
