In 81 A.D., the throne of Rome was once again vacant following the somewhat untimely death of the conqueror of Jerusalem and Roman Emperor Titus. Historians have wondered if Titus' death, which was listed as "natural causes" due to a fever, was actually orchestrated by his estranged and much younger brother - a man who would take his place on the imperial throne. Regardless of the means by which he got there, this man would serve as the next Emperor. A rather controversial character who was beloved by his military and despised by the Senate, that man was the Emperor Domitian.
