Notice John C. Riley as the disabled gladiator 👀

No, he was killed by Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son. Husband to a murdered wife. And he had his revenge, in this life and the next.

Did you know he left his servant in charge of ruling Rome for years while he chilled in a nice villa "Learning" gladiator fighting. His opponents were only given a wooden sword while he used a real one.

Your images of COMMODUS is actually the image of MARCUS AURELIUS, the kindest, wisest, and bravest EMPEROR OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.

For those interested.

Commodus had been trained by Narcissus to fight as a gladiator, and later made him a freed man for his efforts, however everytime Commodus would fight, he would make sure his opponent would have a dull blade incapable of hurting him and then he would kill the defenceless fighter. Eventually Narcissus found out that what he was doing and word spread like wild fire. Commodus then tried to have Narcissus, and everyone else who knew about his secret killed but failed when Narcissus killed him first. and then got executed for killing the emperor shortly after

Imagine the irony of a guy named narcissus focusing on anyone else besides himself long enough to commit murder?!?! That’s mind blowing right there 😂

Commodus was so revered, all toilets henceforth, were named after him. Whoever started that meme, was a legend for all times.

He’s the type of person who would say “We live in a society”

Crazy thing is his father was the best emperor in Roman history, the man who proliferated Stoic Philosophy, Marcus Aurelius.

Can we take a moment of Joaquin Phoenix’s superb acting. 20 years later and people are still in awe of his role as Commodus. The mad emperor. Ironically the son of one of the world’s best know theologians

From what I've read he was actually in good physical shape and a skilled archer.

This must have been where J. Edgar Hoover got this idea. Hoover would send his G-men to trap then kill an America's most wanted. Then the trap would be reset with the dead corps of the felon. Hover would kick in the cracked door and charge in with a Thompson, in full blaze, taking the credit for the dead or alive capture.
