Lyrics:
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads

All my memories gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads

I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain mama
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads
Take me home, (down) country roads

I went and married a West Virginian some 25 years ago. My wife and I have traveled pretty extensively through Europe and made many new friends in pubs. Whenever anyone in any country hears she is from West Virginia - they immediately start singing this song. We've heard it in probably 7 different languages too! It is amazing to us that such a humble song about a humble place could be so embraced worldwide. You've done a beautiful job capturing it and presenting it as your own. Well done, Ms. Sara!

I worked for John Denver for many years and also became long time friends with his lead guitarist. Sadly they're both gone but the great memories remain. Thanks for this great rendition of his classic song.

Just wanted to let you know that I will always remember this performance. My first time in Australia and my first time at an AFL match. I was sitting in the stands, 10, 000 miles from home and got to sing along in this beautiful moment with 30, 000 other fans. Loved this song growing up. Thanks for the great memory.

Being a Kiwi living in Australia for the past decade, I have to say that Australians are truly a great nation of people. I work in concrete, and some of the toughest & and hard-working men are in the industry are incredible. I often think about how similar but different Australia is to America just by the fact of how they love their countries and work hard to keep their country liveable. As an ANZAC, it's an honour to be gifted living here. We go to war together, and we work together even being the "Little Brother" isn't an insult, but an actual praise.

Sara being a Mountaineer myself from West Virginia and living in those precious mountains I approve of this. When you sing this song think of how long it has been since you have been to that special place that holds your soul. When I was in Afghanistan or anywhere I would listen to this song either in my head or headphones and I would instantly be there. Those country roads can be anywhere that leads you home. Thank you young lady!

Beautiful voice! I taught this song to my son when he was 3, and we would sing it together. When he married, he chose it as our mother/ son dance song. Good memories!

Born and raised in West By God's Grace Virginia. Proud mountaineer. Mountaineers are always free. Love your voice. Beautiful song choice.

I think what I like best about this amazing cover is you didn't oversing it. Instead you allowed some of the melancholy under the joy to come out. This song was always about both, and you allowed us to feel that. I'm home on the country roads, but it's been too long....

views in 3 weeks. Very well deserved! Everything is beautiful in this video, the arena, the evening, the violin, the guitars, the vocals, and the artist.

This is a long story, I'll shorten it, so please no comments on grammar. 30+ yrs ago somewhere in east Thailand. 16 guys from 10 different countries. Every evening same bar hangout. Come closing time the waitress would put country roads in the tapedeck, turn volume to max, and we would sing our adopted national anthem top of our lungs. End of our time there, we said we'd meet same bar 350 days later. Internet and email did not exist of course. So 350 days later I went alone into same bar at 1400 hrs. Same girl there said nothing at first but played country roads. Thought it was coincidence. I told her I was there the year before. "Yeah, I know. You're the coca cola on the rocks guy. This your national song. Your friends coming too?" By 1800 hrs 15 guys made it.
