My children's dad funeral is today. After his service in Virginia, he is going to be taken back to West Virginia, where his father was born and raised, to be buried beside his dad and brother who died at 6 years old. It will be in a little cemetery beside a little white church, sitting along a little single lane country road. When his own father died, we told all the old stories that he told us over and over on our trips there to visit the 'old folks'. My children will be taking their dad back in the same way today. And when they cross the West Virginia State line, they will sing this song just like we did for his father. It was beautiful then and it will be beautiful today.

I am sad to miss being with them, as I am abroad, 4, 000 miles away. That is how I found your video today...just needed to hear Country Roads. Thanks.

I'm a Virginian but my roots were from West Virginia. When touring Ireland I was really surprised how much they seem to love this song! This was played
at pubs often. Many Irish did settle in Appalachia so I guess they feel a tie to that area. The kindness and friendliness of the Irish was unlike anything I
experienced across the pond, they are the most friendly people anywhere in Europe... and they LOVE to to talk to Americans :) I fell in love with Ireland and
the Irish people!
