Delta variant hospitalizations make vaccine skeptics regret their decisions | DW News

Much of the United States is now in the grip of a new wave of coronavirus infections. The so-called Delta variant has helped fuel a surge in hospital admissions, especially in states with low vaccination rates and high scepticism. Now some former vaccine skeptics are voicing regret after falling ill.

My s/o's father caught the virus. In his area, vaccines and medicines are still very limited and so he still was not able to receive a single dose. He spent 3 weeks in the hospital. The only way we could communicate was through video call. We watched him struggle trying to breathe and even sweating profusely as his oxygen saturation reached as low at 60%. He has no comorbidity, perfectly healthy just in his 60s.After 3 weeks of long hard battle, he passed away last week. It is frustrating to see countries with such easy access of vaccines are throwing it away while countries like us are struggling to get vaccines.

My wife is a retired nurse whos come back to help with vaccinations.
All she does is role her eyes at the uneducated antivaxers.
What annoys her is the amount of urgent treatments for cancer etc being held off by these selfcentred fools blocking beds unnecessarily.

Unlike The US, here in Indonesia our gov't has made it mandatory to mask up as often as possible since the Delta variants hit, and subject the people to vaccination. We've listened, and have followed the gov't. And look at the result after a month of lockdown, we've recovered and things are looking up. Patience pays off. 😊

I find it hard to muster any sense of compassion for these folks. They made their choice however misbegotten. If they are second guessing decisions now, just wait till reality kicks in and they get the medical bills down the road.
