Yes, absolutely! I have just disappeared into book-writing mode for a while, but I will be back to videos in October. :)

@doomtomb3 Fair point, I ought to have labelled "GB" here not "Gb". This said, as nobody every talks of storage in gigabits (only data speeds) I think the meaning is clear -- as is the audio.

@KnocksX Indeed, but remember this is my "Explaining Computers" channel -- and all the wacky future stuff is over on my ExplainingTheFuture channel (well, aside from the last video on quantum computing, which for some reason I did over here! :-) But yes, this video is somewhat different from, say, the one I uploaded recently on the Singularity. . .

Yes, I am ever so slightly British -- I make these videos in Nottingham, UK.

@creativemario3 Thanks for your kind comment. And you did get in quick! I think you saw this on YouTube before I did! :)

Technically it should be solid state **drive** as nothing spins. But many people -- me included -- sometimes slip and use the word "disk" as we are so used to saying "hard disk". But I got so many complaints that I will always say "drive" from now on! :-)

Intel has set the specification to which other manufacturers have to comply if they want to label their machines as "ultrabooks". Intel is also funding significany ultrabook advertising internationally, as well as providing development funds.

It made me happy you said so many millimeters thick. Marketing laptops as "only 20 millimeters THIN" drives me nuts.

As always, informative and to the point. One of the best series on YT and your website is great as well. Thanks for all your efforts, and keep up the excellent work!

It's amazing to see that all the predicitions said in this videos pretty much became true. Thin or thin'ish laptops are the norm now, for better or for worse.

Yes, certainly. You could run something like Ubuntu.

Modern day Apple should take notes on the port selection...

It's funny to see a futurist talk about technology that is pretty much present-day. Ultrabooks should be like horse carriages to you, Christopher :)

On every high-end smartphone running android, you can run a full computer OS
called ubuntu, which is a very advanced and user-friendly linux distribution.

They even managed you can run both simultaneously (so you run ubuntu on your attached screen, but you can stil use your smartphone. Even more you can acces all your mobile application via your computer, because android en ubntu use the same kernell)

in future these will become much easier and faster with windows and ubunut porting to arm
