I take you guys in three different towns starting in Huentitan el Bajo, Back to the US my home town, to San Bernardino, to Ajijic and then back to Huentitan, just to share why I think the way I do.

Hello Victor, I really enjoy your educational videos and I was born in LA and grew up and live in San Bernardino. My parents are from Ocotlan Jalisco and that was the reason I started watching your videos because I like the hole Chapala area I visit my Family in Jalisco every year.

That smoke is brutal. Just got back and the smoke reaches all the way passed Colima. Didn’t see it clear up until I got to Manzanillo. Good video!

Victor, I greatly appreciate your unique perspective on the subject. I didn't know you had history in southern Cal which I can relate to given I'm living in north San Diego County. Like you I have come to recognize that I am priced out of this market and it's not the first time I've recognized that fact. At 67 years old I'm now at a point where it's imperative I create a sustainable lifestyle and the number one driver is affordability and quality of life. In this case I'm fairly confident it will be lakeside and it will be sooner rather than later as I have just listed my property for sale. I've been researching life in Chapala/Ajijic for over a year now and I recognize the positive and negative aspects of gentrification and IMO lakeside has become a highly over valued market but so be it. After looking at many potential retirement locations throughout Mexico and other countries I always come back to Chapala as offering the best and greatest number of options. I think it was about 9 months ago when I first tuned into your channel; you were about 80 % complete on the house. You serve as an inspiration mainly because you embody virtues and qualities that enable you to show up as a "redeemer" for others. Along that line of thought, I recently heard that Paramahansa Yogananda was quoted as saying Ajijic would be the place of a spiritual renaissance. Somehow that rings true and I suspect what may be a catalyst for that manifestation is the multicultural factors that are shaping life at lakeside. Time will tell. Blessings to you and yours.

I was there in March of this year, and it's such a beautiful place . Ajijic was a stop on one of the tour vans we took .. we were only there for about an hour but did run into a couple people walking they're dogs 😊. Very friendly. Thanks for your videos really love them ❤️

19:05 Good point. Gentrification has an element of Classism that goes along with it.
I like to add that gentrification also represents change. And change is seen as a bad thing by many folks.

Hello, I got gentrified out of San Francisco growing up, ended up in the East Bay, where I work and along with my husband raised our family. We've set our eyes on Chapala for retirement and are working on our retirement for some years now. I do not want to feel like I'm going to displace locals. My husband is from Ajijic, but we cannot afford to retire there. I haven't set foot in my house in Chapala yet, but I've been paying Predios since 2005. So I don't feel so much like an outsider in my new community. I'm so glad we invested in Mexico.

Good video. My concern is that landlord will hold out and rent homes to foreigners who pay twice the rent that a Mexican family could afford to pay forcing the Mexican family to leave the area. Some people consider gentrification to be progress and maybe it is but it's not always good for everyone. -Marc

Good video brother in my experience with the foreigners in Mx. Or expats whatever more polite word. In the times I been there to visit most people I encounter I like to be very polite I say hello or friendly greeting but they just pretend they don't hear me they act in a very arrogant way they need to integrate into society in mingle with people I think is the right way to go and greet people. Unless I am the only person I don't look like a criminal by no means. Anyway I wish they were alittle friendlier. G B.

We love your content and have enjoyed watching your channel become bigger! I was starting to look into international schools for our children if we are able to make the move we want to be sure our children can be well educated an unfortunately they don’t speak enough Spanish (yet 😊) to be schooled in only Spanish . We homeschool in the states and put our children in homeschool co-ops in which it seems the cost I’m paying for good co-ops is around half of the private education in Mexico which is pretty good. I found a school in the Zapopan area called Lincoln which is an international Christian school, I’m so intrigued by it, it really may impact our final decision on where we end up in Mexico (if we can afford to fully move, if not we will attempt to own something near the border in Puerto Peñasco to frequent and rent out until our ultimate dream of moving can come true) I was just wondering if you knew of any other schools, homeschool co-op that have a lot of English, etc near where you are located (or please let me know how far of a drive approximately you are from Zapopan) or really any good school options you may have heard about anywhere (we would love a more “chill” smaller community vibe along with a little less expensive option than Zapopan seems to be but must keep the children in mind) Your knowledge and experience of being from & living in both Mexico and The United States is very helpful to us since you have understanding, love and respect of both cultures which is how we strive to be, we want ourselves and our children to have an understanding, love and respect for both countries and cultures without diminishing the other and your videos give off that vibe all while sticking to Christian principles and standing up for rights so kudos & blessings to you and your channel

Que guapo eres. The genderfication is a very complex issue, my parent decided bewtween Cuernavaca and Mérida, we chose Cuarnavaca and the whole place has changed since we moved, lots of new houses, gated communitiies, pools golf and tennis courts etc but the people of the town hates us, we havent done much for the community or even give jobs to the locals cuz most of us only coe few times a year.

amen hermano, if God blesses you in the material sense, don't become a jerk who thinks they are better than anyone else. Instead of taking advantage of others, use the advantage you have to help others.
We just came back from Guadalajara last week actually. People on every street are trying their best to make a living, using their skills or their strength to get by on very little income. If I have a choice, I prefer to buy from an artisan or vender who is an underdog, because i know they need it & appreciate it so much more than a big company or a chain store

I think it’s pro and cons Yeshua. Your videos really inspire me to want to retire in Mexico. I love the culture my parents are from Zacatecas. Unfortunately that part of the country has a lot of security issues. I really admire your mission of building your house!

But in some places gentrification doesn’t benefit the locals. Their rents and cost of living goes up & they feel the need to leave. Oaxaca for example, the wealthy go with their dollars & pay higher prices where the locals can no longer afford. So they leave their own town/business /homes. That is my issue with gentrification. Places do need to improve but not by pushing the locals out. the locals lived/worked and made it theirs, their entire life. For the foreign to come & make it their own by simply paying top money. Our culture may be at risk by gentrification. As long as our people don’t get push out. I am good with anyone investing in our Mexico.

This doesn’t improve tho when gentrification pushes the locals out and it might work in Ajijic but not in places like CDMX. Plus most foreigners pay no taxes. I don’t think you can fully say that and tbh it’s a bunch of crap when we aren’t welcomed in the US but when they visit they get to live like kings. Spit on that.
