When my kids were little we would take a small bowl of sugar outside to the patch sit in the grass and break off a stalk and dip. Delish

Not sure if it’s the variety or the fact I moved from a place with sh it Ty clay soil and took the plants with me this March but for a spring/summer harvesting plant my rhubarb got fat and better tasting stalks in the past two weeks (August) whereas earlier in the year it was all spindly and tasteless. This is such an underrated plants

I’ve been thinking about rhubarb, because I have friends who say they have more of it than they can use. I hate celery, and rhubarb reminds me of it when I cut it. I’m going to try a couple of recipes that contain celery and replace it with rhubarb, adjusting for the tartness/sourness with a sweetener of some kind. I’m hoping it will work so I can avoid the bitterness of celery without sacrificing its texture properties.

I’ve never had rhubarb and I don’t under why you’d bother eating something that tastes so bad that you have to add THAT much sugar to make it edible.
