PTG 20th Anniversary Tour, 27th January 2019 Part 4: Camporrobles - Cuenca [4K]
Показать описание
This is one of several videos covering the Portuguese Traction Groups 20th Anniversary rail tour in Spain during January 2019.
The locomotive was a former RENFE class 321, an Alco DL500S locomotive built in Spain in 1966 by Euskalduna. Although it carries the number "2148" it is really "2159" [321 059]. The locomotive and stock were provided by ALSA and the whole train normally works the "Tren De Philipe II" tourist train during the summer months.
This video covers the last/fourth part of the second day, 27th January, from Camporrobles to Cuenca.
At Camporrobles the train is seen surrounded by local people wanting to get pictures of and in front of the train. On leaving the station many people - rail fans and ordinary onlookers alike - are seen getting pictures. Several times rail fans can be seen by the side of the line. Several times the train crosses viaducts across valleys, the scenery is breathtaking and the locomotive can be heard working hard.
At Víllora the locomotive is working hard on the climb, passing a few abandoned buildings in this sparsely populated area. The climb eases after a group of rail fans are passed on a bridge as the train approaches Yémeda-Cardenete station. There is much Alco horn action!
When the train stops at Carboneras de Guadazaón the local people again crowd around to get pictures of the train. After leaving the station the climb resumes through mountainous forests with several tunnels. The semi derelict station at Palancares is seen as the train passes the summit of the climb and heads downhill in to a long tunnel. After a short period of accelleration the driver selects dynamic braking, the sound of the fans and traction motors can be heard clearly in the tunnel and on the descent in to Cuenca. It seems most of the town has gone to the station to see the train arrive.
