"Keep the clubface facing the ball" is the the absolute truth. If I don't do that & fan the club open to start, it is a death sentence for my swing. Do that right in the takeaway & everything else falls into place. The clubface will then be parallel with your spine angle when the shaft is parallel to the ground and viewed down the line. Be wary of anyone telling you that the toe of the club should point straight up at 1/4 back, that's an open position & not square. It will very likely lead to a slice unless you have great hand eye coordination coming back down. Nice lesson, Breed!

Hey guys, the reason a lot of good players have strong left hand grips and a matching right hand is so you start back w / a closed club face ! If you have a neutral grip you need to do what Breed said here, both to avoid a slice ! John

really nice drill but a question please: for some of us who have been fanning the clubface open for years, the first part is not difficult. The difficult part is the wrist transition from the end of part A to the top of the swing. Would you have any advice for this?

great advice, when most people, take the club back they fan the face OPEN. causeing alot of unecessary move ments in the

This, for me, was the "holy grail" of the takeaway....NO MORE SLICE!...Although, I do have to be careful not to over do the counter clockwise turn as, that can lead to a pull hook...But, if done correctly, it avoids the entire hassle of squaring the clubface on the downswing....
