What makes this really funny to me is that they're wearing colors that correspond with the turtles: Leonardo's wearing blue, Michelangelo's got sort of orange, etc.

You know, Marco Polo isn't the most famous explorer, at least not in the US, but his explorations were very important to history. His accounts of Asia is what inspired people like Christopher Columbus to search for alternate routes to there. In fact, Christopher Columbus had a copy of Marco Polo's book on the ship with him during his initial journey.
