I will never forget the story of the beanie babies. When I was incredibly small possible still in the womb. My great grandmother loved beanie babies and so did my mom (much less so then my grandma) and McDonalds was selling them with like fries. So my dad, who loved my mom and loved my great grandma. Bit the bullet and are as much fries as he could to give to my grandma. To this day nearly 20 years later. He cannot even smell a McDonalds fry without wanting to get sick.

I remember collecting beanie babies… there was this one time I was at an antique store and there was a collector there who wanted to buy the Scorch beanie baby. Needless to say, I wanted it too and because I was a child, the store owner gave it to me, because she knew I was actually going to play with it. And not two seconds after purchasing it, I tore the tag right off; much to the collector’s horror 😂🤣😂

I'm not religious at all, but I still like that they have clean comedy as well. BYU is one of the few channels you can watch without having to see or hear anything offensive or gross.

I spent $150 buying a little over 200 of the little critters (because I think they are cute but I never wanted to pay so much for them in stores back when they were popular). I don't have a full set, but they are cute, and extras go to a children's charity. When people ask me how much a Beanie Baby is worth, I reply, "75 cents, a few bucks if you're lucky".

I imagine they based this sketch on a recent news item, in which a family spent $100, 000 investing in Beanie Babies. The hope was the bears would appreciate in value and they could use the money to send their three sons to college. However, the deeper they got into it, the more they came to find their collection was worthless. I think one of the sons made a documentary about it.

I remember collecting Beanie Babies in the 90s. I was a kid at the time, and every time I got a new one, some lady in the store would say "Now, you gotta leave the tag on those. One day they'll be worth a lot of money if they still have the tags!" Lady, I'm 8, I don't want a lot of money, I want a bean bag that looks like a penguin to throw at my brother when he's being annoying.
