SONY A7III FACE DETECTION AF | Why is it grayed out?

Hello Epic people!

Today is a quick short video about how to turn on Face Detection Auto Focus and few situations why this feature will be unavailable on Sony A7III.

For different situations skip to 1:05.

In this video, I did not mount a monitor on the camera (I don't have a monitor yet). Whenever I was recording, I always had my phone app connected to the wifi of Sony A7III to act as a monitor. I thought Face Detection AF was not available on 4K, but I saw people in the forums saying theirs worked fine on 4K. So I did some research and found out why it wasn't working for me.

Maybe I was the only one who didn't know about this, but hope my video helped for other beginners like me.

Also if you have record proxies turned on that prevents face AF... I think it can’t process all those things.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'd consider myself pretty good at tech and cameras, but I couldn't seem to get my head around why face tracking wasn't working in 4K. Weirdly enough, the WiFi modes fixed it!

Thank you - I DIsable the Ctrl w/ SmartPhone Option. Now it the EYE-AF is working in 4K Video. :))

duuude, thanks so much for that video! I had "ctrl with smartphone "on, and was wondering why the hack the face detection wasn't working correctly. sony can be really frustrating sometimes. :D

4k face detect is disabled on my a7r3 when my smallHD focus is plugged in also. just thought id mention it. going to check the a7iii for this same thing tomorrow
