After a decade of dominance, 2022 saw tech stocks badly underperform the rest of the market. However, so far in 2023, tech stocks and other speculations have surged again. According to Steve Eisman, what we're seeing is the natural process by which a "paradigm shift" is playing out in stocks. Eisman, a portfolio manager at Neuberger Berman, won big betting against CDOs during the Great Financial Crisis and was famously depicted in the book and movie The Big Short as one of the few investors who got it right. In this conversation, he talks about lessons learned from his career in investing, how and why big shifts happen in markets, the state of the financial system, and what sectors could win over the next decade.

Bloomberg's Joe Weisenthal and Tracy Alloway analyze the weird patterns, the complex issues and the newest market crazes. Join the conversation every Monday and Thursday for interviews with the most interesting minds in finance, economics and markets.

this is very good one. sometimes some SMEs get too nerdy but conversations not very engaging, those are difficult to listen to. Eisman is great.

I admire Steve Eisman and listened to all his interviews on youtube religiously for many years. Obviously, one can't be right all the time. Listen at 20:49 "What I can say definitevly is that there will be not be breakage in the US financial system.. Especially in the banks". SBV crash on March 10, 2023 and some banks loosing up to 70% of their value today March 13 (e.g. FRC - First Republic Bank) tells me that word 'definitely' should always be taken with a grain of salt.

On the side note.. listening first time to Odd Lots podcast, I find Joe interviewing questions and self-promotion in the beginning quite annoying. He is not asking good question. Tracy is better in that respect.

opendoor was run by SF magical thinking techies. If they could do some work instead of sitting at computers, the model might work

What a relief. I thought Steve Eisman died in January 2022, but it was another man name, Steve Eisman . His funeral is on YouTube. Good health do you and a long life, Steve.
