Pakistan reached out to IMF for the 22nd time in 61 years. Where the bailout seems to bring the currency to stabilisation, the common Pakistani faces a huge burden. Syed Shabahat Ali explains Pakistan’s tumultuous history of foreign debts and whether the deal is a helping hand or a death trap for the country.

This video was hard to follow because of the way the numbers were presented. I have following two humble suggestions:
1. All numbers should have been presented using the same currency and naming convention e.g. either dollars or pkr + million billions or arab kharab
2. The numbers should have been shown on the screen for easier following.

First Zardari took almost 6Trillion loan, then NS govt almost 9 Tr and then our beloved IK govt took almost 12-19 Tr loan. In Musharraf era everything was almost good he took aid instead of loans. These bastards corrupt politicians are the worst enemies of ours. No accountablity they are billionaires and their money is outside Pakistan. They are same like EAST INDIA COMPANY.

Urgently need to end the reckless, extravagant spending of bureaucracy, Establishment, parliament, judiciary on their complimentary fancy lodgings, perks and privileges, special allowances, free fuel & electricity all being paid by public taxpayer via excessive indirect taxation.
Given Pakistan's woefully inadequate GDP and how meagre national revenue is spent on population welfare and development its completely unsustainable and destructive.
Which is in effect illegal and daylight robbery. Indirect taxation is imposed regardless of income status so actually creates more poverty and feeds the vicious cycle of financial dependency and never ending debt.

Nice presentation
However, you forgot to explain your listeners how these institutes come up with $$$ or Euros at first place. We need to educate ourselves about how modern banking system works, how these institutes create currency out of nothing to loan out and enslave countries like pakistan.
Lastly, how fractional reserve banking creates $1000, fake currency, out of $100 bank deposit. Also, Don't confuse currency with Money they are two different things

Pakistan needs to stop making nuclear weapons and concentrate on helping poor Pakistanis jobs

If Pakistan defaults, People should not let Sharif, Zardari & army generals to run away.
They should be caught in time and punished.
Army generals deserve a harsh punishment for bringing Pakistan to this stage with their unlawful interferences.

Bangladesh does very well economically since almost negligible spending on military...they are also neighbor of India...Pak need to amend relationship with India and eliminate need for military spending...spend more on Infra and industries...anyway since a nuclear state..Pak should not need any other weapon to bailout fron a major war !

Pakistan will never change unless we change ourselves first. Being as a nation, we always mourning about inflation, higher cost of living and whole family depends on one person salary. We have almost half of Pakistan containing women but if you are look job market less than 20% are economically actively. We need to break this culture and everyone should work based on his/her skills set to contribute the economy. I’m amazed to see young Pakistani students/professionals are happy to work so called odd jobs in foreign countries but they don’t want to work onto such jobs in their own country. Unless we change our attitudes and mindset our economic situation will gets worse no matter who ever comes to govt🥸
