👋 Today we check out totally opposite midsized trucks! The rugged body on frame turbocharged 2024 Toyota Tacoma and the unibody crossover SUV based Honda Ridgeline! This 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road has an MSRP of $47,000 and the Ridgeline Trailsport comes in right there too! So the Tacoma now has a 4 cylinder turbo engine or a hybrid version of the same engine. The Ridgeline keeps it old school with a V6. You have a 4X4 transfer case for the Tacoma and an AWD system for the Ridgeline. I do like how the Ridgeline has a trunk in the bed. Makes this a very practical truck and the swing gate tailgate is pretty cool. The bed is a bit smaller then the Tacoma and it's not quite as capable for towing or payload. But it's great for adventures where you have the bed full and the trunk full. Back seats in the Ridgeline are pretty comfortable overall and a bit nicer then the Tacomas back seats. Front seats are pretty comfortable in both trucks too. The Ridgeline comes much better equipped at this price tag with leather seats and other tech. The Tacoma has basic fabric so you need to spend a ton more to get the creature comforts. The Tacoma drives a bit more rugged and is much quicker feeling with the turbo and especially the hybrid. Ridgeline is fine, but doesn't have the same low end torque. Overall I think the 2024 Tacoma and Ridgeline are good options. If you plan on towing, off roading and hauling, the Tacoma simply is much better. If this will be a daily driver and lighter loads the Ridgeline is a better choice.

Pretty good review but I can tell you didn't do your homework the Tacoma Insight is not more rugged what it is is more recycled plastic the whole dash is completely cheap plastic it looks like something you'd buy for a little child just blows my mind away how much plastic they use just to cut corners it looks very very cheap so they put a big tablet in there to get your attention, it's way too big and it sticks over the dash it looks very stupid Honda it doesn't look over the dash it's embedded in the dash it's not overbearing and all of the dash is soft touch material feels better quality more luxury!!! And when you move and you hit a bump the hood moves on the Tacoma I took one out for a test drive very cheap cheap quality materials even the metal is cheap and tinny now the Transmissions are falling apart 4 cylinder turbo Motors don't last!!! In the front drive shaft fall apart when you take the Tacoma off the road and we know Toyota reliability for 2024 with right down so you're not getting any quality with this thing the third generation was 100 times better you can tell when you drive the truck 3rd generation feels solid!! And by the way the frame does it make a truck or not a truck the Ridgeline has a box and it has a tailgate that's what makes it a truck I thought that was just common sense but there's just no common sense no more this new age way of thinking is getting people lost cannot tell with basic things are anymore which is very sad have a good one

I crossed shopped both. Mostly daily driver. I was really disappointed with the recent updates to the Ridgeline. I thought Honda would at minimum use the current gen Pilot interior. I chose the Tacoma TRD Sport for the updated ergonomics and 6ft bed. Both are a great choice imo.

I’d pick the UGLY Ridgeline over the taco.

Hopefully. HOPEFULLY Honda makes the next Ridgeline look more like the pilot up front with a more truck like square-ish body.

It could be so simple if they’d just listen

It is very, very obvious that you are biased to the Tacoma, You talk up the crap cloth & plastic interior of the Tacoma as rugged, and then call the nicer leather & luxury interior of the Ridgeline as boring. You say the Tacoma ground clearance is 11" while the Ridgeline is only 7" when in fact, the specs say, the Ridgeline has 7.64 in of ground clearance, while the Tacoma has an available 9.4 in. So, you said the difference is 4", when in fact it is only 1.16" difference. You never even mentioned the Ridgeline has a 8" wider bed, or that the combined MPG of the Ridgeline is 21 vs 18 for the Tacoma. The whole review is slanted to Tacoma. You said Toyota accelerated better, when officially: Car and Driver tested this 2024 Honda Ridgeline TrailSport V6 and found it can reach 60 mph in 6.0 seconds. Motortrend tested the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 4X4 and found it can reach 60 mph in 7.4 seconds. If the Ridgeline was better in a specific category, you just didn't mention it. Hell, if I wanted a biased review, I could go to a Toyota dealer and ask them which is better. If you're going to do these reviews, you need to check your preconceived bias at the door. How many will viewers will buy the cheapened Tacoma because of this slanted review.

bought the exact same ridgeline in august and was able to get it for $42k. so a way better value proposition than the toyota. also the ride and cab space is so far ahead of the toyota.

To me, this is apples to oranges, the Honda is NOT a high clearance 4x4 vehicle, if I was planning to go offroad the Yota, if not, or sticking to manicured dirt roads, the Honda.
